- Here are some english usage tips for the hard of thinking: Don't use "technically" when you really mean "arbitrarily". Also, the phrase "The fact is I think that" can be shortened to "Seriously," without reducing its meaning. You should also avoid "In further news" when "Before that" would work. Finally, please cease using the phrase "Any rational person would know" since it has been conclusively proven not to be true.

- Lots of Angel data. All I wanted was the traditional Order of Angels... This person has too much time on their hands. Don't use this a serious reference, there is some confused data here. All in all, it's a heck of a list.
Let me just say this here, don't fricking search for angels on the web! Holy Crap, there is a lot of Holy Crap out there!
If you want to look into this from a scholarly perspective, there is a great study you could do on how the whole angel phenom happened over the last 10 years or so. If you just want some interesting links, check out New Advent which has the hypertext versions of The Catholic Encyclopedia, Summa Theologica, and The Fathers of the Church. These are intra-linked and webized. Very cool even for a non-Catholic like me. If you are still interested, here is the (multilingual!) Code of Canon Law with all the laws of the Roman Catholic Church. Of course if you get tired of a bunch of 1000 year old know-it-alls telling you what the bible means, The Bible Gateway is your one stop shop for nine different english translations, the latin vulgate, and eight other languages including Tagalog! Text search and more, with cross references and footnotes from each version. There are other language versions available elsewhere on the site too. No searches for Arabic and Chinese tho, guess they couldn't figure out how to webize print that runs the wrong way...

- Um, OK since I'm logging out this computer and moving, I gotta post this too. There is a Submarine for sale at Neiman Marcus. You may recall my previous ranting on aquatic excess. I have no idea how expensive this 11 person submarine is but I can tell you this: if you take that first link and add that baby to your shopping cart, then view your shopping cart, you will find that you can get an entire submarine giftwrapped for only $6.50! What ever you say about these stores, they offer incredible wrapping value!

- OK, this should make you mad. The South Park one is the best. The current Clan Bob Comic is right on the money as well. Titled "Do NOT give him ideas" if it moves on... Check out Blacklung.org while you are at it. Three up blog'ing with a slick design.

- I always forget just how powerful a shuttle launch is. How cool is it that CNN and Weather Channel both ran it live? Those are the two channels we run in out Network Center Control Room on a regular basis. I decide to check the weather since hours on end of CNN reporting the same three scraps of political news started to bug me and 30 seconds after I switch the launch happens. Then, when it's over I switch back and catch the continuing coverage on CNN and the replay. Way cool. I'm such a space nut I was calling the roll-over, throttle down, throttle up and booster separation before the newscaster did.
I always get a tear in my eye during these launches. The Space Station launches have just made me thrill to it all again.

- Bonghit.org. No, I have no idea what they are on, either. They do like the generally-about-gay-sex-but-occasionally-insanely-funny JerkCity so
they have got to be baked on something good. I'm mostly linking this because I like the layout. It has drama, glitter, power and breathtaking scope. Well, the green bits are nice anyway.

- Here's a thought that just occured to me. I wonder if there are bandwidth issues to the supernatural? And different protocols used to get different types of data. Like 8BP, the Eight-Ball Protocol, which has limited voice activation and a user-friendly interface but low-resolution output. Or OBP, Ouija Board Protocol, which has finer-grained access to various UP (Undead Protocol) functions. Voodoo would use the NCP/UP (Necro-Control Protocol/Undead Protocol) and a Staph-less Master-Slave design to merge a simple, powerful interface with great underlying power in the upper level ZOTP (Zombie Order Transmission Protocol). Of course, for the best in zombie control, you will have to get the Up-Grave to the new Undead Explorer 5.5.

- Comics, Comics, Comics:
- Greystone Inn: This one grew on me after I got a ways into the archives. The deal is, it's a comic about the behind-the-scenes action at a typical comic. Since any industry as rife with sex, drugs, scandal and major events as the comics are should make for almost infinite potential, we'll just have to keep an eye on this one.
blumoonky will like this one and the next
- Just Another Vice would appear to be moving closer to my heart. Or at least my webpage... Digging through the archives has revealed a new side to this comic. To follow what is what you are going to have to make the effort to goof off for a while reading comics.
- Bruno the Bandit will take a little looking at...
- Free Fall is a comic I used to read and now don't. The reason I quit? I forgot where it was. Yeah, I'm stupid but I knew about it and you didn't. It's Furry and SciFi and can often be quite funny too. I'm not big on the furry usually but this one keeps it fresh like Kevin and Kell. Check it out.
- It's Walky may be worth another look.
- News Hounds apparently stars a cat. That is funny enough for a second look. Well, he's just one of the cast but still...
- Soap on a Rope, umm haven't I mentioned them before? Weird art and weird humor makes for a combo I keep checking out and giving up on. Been around since '97 and still cranking and popular. Worth double checking because as we have learned from the recent "election" millions of people can't be wrong, right?
- No Outlet is furry. I LOVE the website design tho! Mmmm original.
- Supermegatopia still on the radar, tho I haven't mentioned it recently...
- Arrogance in Simplicity has to win an award for title alone.
- Ozzy and Millie is another I used to follow but just sorta stopped. It's got great art and it's newspaper friendly. Cute.
- Floating Henry Rollins Head Haiku is a close rival on that title award...
- Don't forget I'm still looking at all these still too. Lots of good stuff there.

- Oh, my earlier net outage prevented me from remarking on how nice it was to hear from DFA's ass today. It is so rare that his ass calls me up just to shoot the breeze as we like to say. Of course, when I called back, DFA himself answered and he didn't sound all that thrilled to talk to me. I would say he was acting like an ass but that is patently untrue since his ass called me first. Luckily I gave his ass a good talking too and hopefully he'll get a grip on his ass and this sort of thing won't have to happen again.
Just so you know, he sat on his cellphone and it dialed me up unbeknownst to him, now read that first part again and see if it isn't funnier... BTW, his pepper spray link in that post I sent you too of his rocked, I wonder if he found it by searching for Mace or condiments? As much hot stuff as he eats, you'd think his ass would have called the Fire Department by now. =)

- Hey, here is some good news. Well, for me anyway, I'm not really sure that it affects you in any way.
I think I know why my DSL is occasionally booting me off net! It seems that my Ethernet cards just might SUCK. If not them, the drivers, anyway. For those in the know, I did everything in the book but
a simple /etc/rc.d/init.d/dhclient stop; ifconfig eth1 up; ifconfig eth1 down; dhclient start fricking works.
At least I don't have to power the fucker down anymore, unless it is eth0 that it stops responding on...

- Minor comic update: I'm pretty sure I'm going to whack the two MPOG
comics off the list. Neither Polymer City nor Hang and Catch Fire are doing much for me. I still like PC's style but he just isn't doing much with the strip. Meanwhile, HCF just isn't funny or saying anything about games, programming or entertainment you can't get somewhere else a lot funnier. Add to that the fact that the MPOG site is akamai'ed up the wazoo and is still sloooow.
Meanwhile, one of the grandfather comics to my current addiction is Goats who seems to be slipping into a "I wanna write a book" funks. I know about those and I cheer him on but him going to going to MWF will have me gnawing on heroin needles for my fix. =)
More tomorrow during the day, plus an update on the ones I've been eyeballing.
P.S. Inktank's Barry made the critical mistake of featuring coffee in his strip the day his top news item was about his new mugs for sale. And he didn't do any art on the mug in the strip! Worry not, I already dressed him down good for it. =)

- Giant Rat
Realistically, you should trust me enough by now just to click on that and enjoy. But if you need more convincing, read these quotes, while trying to imagine the picture attached to the article:
Union officials said that the security guards then began spraying the
handbillers with Mace, hitting union member Edison Severino at "point-blank
range."
Do they make a Mace™ that squirts like hornet-nest spray? Can you hit anything at all when not at point-blank range?
"Everybody gets angry in these situations; it's understandable. But you can't
attack people and destroy an $8,000 rat," he said.
Yeah, leave the rat alone, go back to Macing people at "point-blank range"
"The last we saw of the rat it was being dragged across the parking lot behind
the precinct," Peterson said.
How many times have we heard that about the police?
"There is a demand for more rats. They're catching on. They're becoming
popular," he said.
said the lawyer...

- Final Fantasy trailer again. Hoo boy that is amazing! Now that I've spotted the higher res version, I'm happier than ever. Too cool, all rendered, flipping amazing.

I just love Akamai I think their slogan is Delivering Huge URLs and DNS Problems
. Actually, it's Delivering a Better Internet
. Originally that included with thousands of redirects
but they took that bit off. Sure it is cool caching but it is sooo intrusive and soooo ugly.

- And I quote:
& More recently,...
Giant Squids, calling themselves Surgeons,
One tentacle holding a Scalpel, aimed toward our penis,
while the other arms are removing our wallets and credit cards!
Wow! ain't that great? Any site with the phrase Creme de la Creme of Sexual Excitement
is a winner with me! Check out the JoJido. I think that means sex-fu but I'm not sure, it could mean scam-fu.
One more quote, from a *snort* satisfied customer:
"This is exactly what I'd always wished for,
but was too shy to ask.
You've made it easy.
Thanks so Much."
Marina - San Francisco
Seriously tho, this site is a like a study experiment or something. I love the fact that the penile enhancement section, which is their word for enlargement and doesn't imply that they just spruce the willy up with new outfits and makeup, has swords all over it, you even click on an animated sword being drawn to order the penile enhancement course. BTW any order gets you the French Guide, which is about Oral pleasure and not how to put up with francophones.

- Aww man, another good web column I like goes bye-bye. Say a fond farewell to Subatomic Humor. What a damn shame.
I do have to say that publishing a book of one-off columns you don't have a dedicated fanbase for is fricking stupid tho. He took a poll and a 100 people said they'd buy it? I could have told him to keep the print run to 25 or so. I really don't see why anyone would buy a book of topical humor they've already read. I bought a couple Dave Barry books but they had columns I hadn't read and I never paid more than about 4 dollars for them. You see, if you wait, comedy books go on 80% off sale after they tank. If you wait long enough they get down to the reasonable price they should have been charging all along. It's not about sales, it's about self-gratification.
Buying a book of humor columns is like filming masturbation pr0n. You only enjoy it once. And only a few real weirdos would pay full price for crap they only enjoy once.

- New comics to eyeball as you get time.
Zortic Auugh puns! oh god the puns! What did I do to deserve those?
Juice: Ok try and follow this because it gets real confusing in the middle part. Juice is a comic but there is no art work. See, all it is is text, just text. They even go so far as to describe what they art layout should be but don't actually draw anything, it is just more words. They even break the forth wall by referring to the comic in the comic. It is rather funny in places. From now on -- simply to prevent confusion, of course -- we will refer to this particular comic form as... umm... err... dialogue.
Platinum Grit: Ah, hope you have the Macromedia suite installed. Gonna need flash and shockwave it seems. Great art tho. Still waiting on the 5MB comic to load... Update: Gah, after it loaded it declared the need for a new version of shockwave, hurrah! That means I get to download the full 5MB again! TWAS WORTH THE WAIT, BABY!

- OK, I put off posting this for a few days but The_Dave posting here gives me the excuse. I love where I work now. I love what we are all doing, I love working for and with real friends, I love trusting the people who run our company not to screw us over. What a great thing it is in this day and age. The_Dave is not only one of my best friends but my direct boss. That is darn cool.
Even better is how this company pull together when things get tight. Someone had to work on Thursday during the day, someone gets screwed for Thanksgiving, it is just the way a 24/7 business works. In this case, it was sklutch that got screwed. Two others came in to work with him, about 5 of us brought them food, and they only finished off the food in the NOC last night. =)
Best of all, when we look around at our industry (which is only a lot internet, not completely internet) we see people who over-extended themselves, over-spent, over-promised, over-hired, over-hyped, and many more overs. Now they are a facing one last over, their own. Mean while we tick along, spending our pennies wisely and making ends meet. If this were a TV show, we'd all decide to make home-made gifts for each other and have this wonderful, homey rag-tag Christmas. Of course it isn't a TV show, it is our lives, so I guess we'll just go to the big boss' house and hang out. Why? Because he's our friend too. When people ask me why I think this company is going to make it this is what I bring up. We are going to make it because we are family and friends, we're too honest and know each other too well for hype, all we have is trust and our heads screwed on straight.
so there. =P

- OK, after years in the trenches with both experienced net users and those who don't know the difference between foward and back slash. I have found the true seperation of the masses: 1. Those who consider email a conversation tool that allows them to communicate with friends, family, coworkers. and 2. Those who edit check their email for grammar, spelling, and legality for it is written in stone once it is put in email form.
That's it there they are.

- If you were to pick a domain name, would you pick one that is one letter away from looz, floo, and floozy? No, you wouldn't. They've been around a while but I bet when they go down you hear everyone saying, "Wow, Flooz, who would have thought they'd wind up 'Loozers'?" Mark my words, that day is a coming, no matter how many commercials they con Whoopi Goldberg into doing.
Goldberg.com, man I bet there are a lot of disappointed wrestling fans out there... Well, not here tho... BTW, I'm sorta disappointed that wcw.wcw.com and wwf.wwf.com don't work. How did they miss that? =)
Also, to save you the wonder, looz is at Great Domains *snort*,
floozy actually leads to an amusing site (rather than
the pr0n disaster I expected. *sorta* disappointing, really), and
it seems that floo.com is taken but unused. I'll leave the .nets and .orgs for you to discover, consider it a project =)
